Looking into some upgrades and tweaks for my 33, and I'm trying to track down detailed specs, particularly rig dimensions, ballast info, and original sail plan. I've found bits and pieces online, but nothing that feels fully reliable or complete, so any old manual or documentation anyone would be willing to share, or even just some firsthand knowledge from owning one. also, I might order new gear too, any factory variations or help on that would be appreciated too

I'd check with owner forums and sailmaker archives for rig specs and sail plans, those usually have the real deal and a side note, factory gear can vary, so double-check your build year before ordering anything

Great job spotting that before the upgrades! Just so you know, the rig dimensions are approximately I: 39′, J: 12.5′, P: 41.75′, and E: 13.75′. The ballast weighs around 4,400 pounds, and you have the option of Scheel or deep keels, which is pretty cool.

You can find the manuals and sail plans on Tartan's website in the T33 section, super handy!

Are you leaning more towards performance upgrades or are you after some cozy cruising comforts?

@Sinclair2 yep, forums usually have it or maybe tartan sailboats websites, even marketplace. but it's from the 80s, so it might be hard, for alternative OP can contact Tartan Yachts directly, might get lucky there

My 465 went through this same problem last year. Best move? It was emailing Tartan directly since they actually replied with rig specs and sail plan PDFs. Also, be aware there were early and late versions with different rigs, so double check your hull number before ordering anything.

I dealt with something similar with my Tartan 37 not too long ago. Finding the specs was like a treasure hunt. The forums were super helpful, but the real game changer was when I reached out to the manufacturer directly. They provided me with the precise rig plans and ballast info tied to my hull number. It really saved me from mistakenly ordering the wrong parts and made the upgrade process so much easier.
