Hunting for the elusive macerator

The macerator on my Tartan 3800 quit on me, and I can't figure out where it's hiding. Its location isn't clear, and I'm starting to think it might be tucked away under the waste holding tank. If that's true, getting to it could be a serious project, any ideas?

On many Tartan 3800s, you'll find the macerator positioned low close to the holding tank outlet often tucked away behind an access panel or beneath the aft berth. To locate it just follow the hoses leading from the tank

To add, some owners have found it hidden behind cedar panels or deep in the bilge area. Did you try checking behind the tank or under the locker lining yet? That might be your next best bet.

Yep, on the 3800 it’s usually down low near the holding tank outlet, sometimes tucked under the aft berth or behind an access panel. Follow the hoses from the tank. They’ll usually lead you right to it. Be ready for a tight squeeze if it’s in the bilge or behind any panels, but that’s normal for Tartan layouts.
